Colbert Angry At Fox News Over Awkward Mitt Romney Interview (VIDEO)

First Posted: 12/02/11 01:25 PM ET Updated: 12/02/11 02:06 PM ET

2012 is shaping up to be an election year that will make Stephen Colbert's head spin. Without Fox News clearly in the bag for any one GOP candidate at this point, how will he be able to properly tell his audience who has the moral aptitude to lead the country?

Bret Baier's recent uncomfortable interview with Mitt Romney further disappointed Colbert. How could this be the same Bret Baier who traditionally has barely hidden his affection for Republican candidates and, more notably, presidents? Whether they like it or not, Mitt Romney will probably be their nominee, so Fox may as well get used to it.

On one hand, Romney has been an egregious flip-flopper for years. On the other hand, why ask him that to his face! It's simply impolite, Bret Baier. For shame! And as Colbert correctly points out, Romney could end up being Baier's coworker soon (see: Gingrich, Newt; Palin, Sarah).

I don't understand why, on the Canadian site, you would post a link that only works in the US. A bit frustrating, really.

Did anyone explain why the interview was given in a warehouse and Romney had to sit on what could have been a half-pallet of pork and beans? Is this how Fox treats a person who is running for the position of 'Most Exalted Leader of the Free World' (MELFD). Maybe they should have used the set from Reservoir Dogs to give the interview some subtext. They could have ended the interview with some friendly fork truck races. Mitt could have reached out and grabbed a drink from the nearest pallet, give it a shake and spritz Bret in the face as he popped the top like you do when training a kitten. All in all not Mitts best interview.

Thanks Jon Stewart. Now I get it. This is Glenn Beck's dressing room in the Fox basement. Sorry for the typo. Most Exalted Leader of the Free World is MELFW.

They ask him tough questions because Mitt lost the Murdoch Primary already.

what they're not talking about is why Brett interviewed mitty in such a truthful non-faux news way....

again faux news is using their power to control our government.

this time might just be fine...since newtie might make obama's second term happen that much easier.

He edited a tape much like Breitbart does. In the edited tape it had Obama saying something he never meant. Romney simply edited the tape and created a lie that made Obama look bad. Then Romney ran it as a campaign ad in New Hampshire. Of course, it was revealed the tape was edited.
So, why would anyone want him to win the nomination much less the Presidency with the discovery he suffers from blatant, characterlessness? Can't this Party find someone to run who is Not so obviously character challenged. They got a year.

I agree completely. To me, it's the Romneycare v. Obamacare issue. For the life on me, I just can't figure out how Romney can argue that Obamacare is bad and Romneycare is good. Mitt's argument against Obamacare is so absurdly weak that is just makes no logical sense to me. If someone can explain that to me, I would love to hear a good explanation. I'm not getting it from Romney.

Of course they are going to treat Mittens like crap. Fox has deigned the Newt as heir to the GOP nom. Newt has won the first primary.. the "Murdoch primary." In England they actually use that term. If Murdoch and his papers don't endorse you... your're screwed. Blaire and Cameron were both endorsed by Murdoch's papers.
