Erin Andrews Peephole Lawsuit: ESPN Reporter Files 2nd Suit Against Marriott Hotel
Andrews is suing the West End Marriott Hotel, along with convicted perpetrator Michael Barrett, for a total of $10 million in damages ($4 million from Barrett and $6 million from the hotel) over invasion of privacy, negligence and infliction of emotional stress.
While staying at the hotel near Vanderbilt University in 2008, Barrett recorded Andrews by aiming a cell phone camera through the peephole on the door to her hotel room.
Just like the lawsuit she filed last year, Andrews claims that the hotel gave Barrett her room number without her permission.
Deadspin asked Andrews' attorney, Mary A. Parker, why she filed a second lawsuit:
"The original case was non-suited to try to get all of the cases in the various states joined together under the jurisdiction of one court which has not been able to be resolved," Parker wrote in an email. "Our year for re-filing was about to run, so we re-filed, but only against the entities that are clearly jurisdictional in TN. All original allegations against those entities are exactly the same."
