Lady Gaga Going To White House To Discuss Anti-Bullying Initiative

Lady Gaga White House Obama Anti Bullying

AP/The Huffington Post   Posted: 12/ 6/2011 11:15 am

WASHINGTON -- Lady Gaga is coming to the White House.

The pop singer is meeting with Obama administration staffers Tuesday to discuss her work on bullying prevention. The White House held an anti-bullying conference earlier this year, and the administration estimates that bullying affects 13 million students, or about a third of those attending school

However, Gaga won't have a chance to meet with President Barack Obama. He's traveling to Kansas for a speech on the economy.

The president and Gaga have met before. The singer attended a fundraiser for Obama's re-election campaign in California earlier this year.

At the fundraiser, Gaga and Obama had an exchange in the Q&A, according to ABC News:

She first thanked the president for what he's accomplished, then read from what she said was a letter from a fan about the suicide of another fan who had been subjected to bullying.

She thanked Obama for hosting his anti-bullying conference with Michelle Obama, and then made a general plea to everyone in the room, including the president, to do what they can to prevent bullying.

Obama thanked her, spoke about his administration's anti-bullying campaign, and then more generally about the importance of values and who we are as Americans.

we demand that other countries treat and protect their citizens, or we will cut off aid, invade them and push the old regime out and put in new. Yet we do not protect ours. The ones getting bullied are youths, don't we owe them protection?

Why do people think it takes a PhD to become a representative of a cause? You can champion a cause because you understand it and have an emotional bearing with it.

If a 14-year old kid tells me that he appreciates all that I did but it wasn't enough and ends up killing himself, that's all the inspiration I would need to speak out AND do something about it.

I also don't see the issue with having Lady GaGa attract the younger American voters and help them realize that their vote matters.

The POTUS administration's priorities are strange. With all of the foreign policy disasters and the economy in free fall, this is what the POTUS administration's spends time on....

WOW....

Don't be so partisan that you can't appreciate anything GOOD that comes of this presidency. Unless you feel bullying and teen suicide are acceptable until unemployment is below 4%.

When I want to tout an important message I find it best to not have it delivered by a drug-abusing freak show.
But that's just me.

Jeez, why can't she support santorum for his efforts on gay rights? No one has done more than santorum to make the gay and lesbian lifestyle look more moral.

Nice inference. Israelis target Palestinian children with American weapons -- did I get that right?

Nice. They're both genuinely concerned and sincerely committed; which is just plain all-American nice.

Lady gaga is fantastic. The truth about these bullies is that they are weak obedient conformists who need someone to look down on and bully in order to reclaim some of the power that they have given up. And they pick on those who are strong disobedient non conformists because they are jealous. Governments, religions and many others use this psychology of giving the weak permission to bully as an incentive to gain followers. The weak will always exist and will always seek to bully. But we have to make sure that have less opportunity to annoy their betters.

If Lady Gaga wants to support the education President, I have an opening on my staff. LOL. My 10 point proposal for Education will help reduce bullying as well as dramatically cut the number of school drop outs. We need to fix education from the ground-up. Bullying is just one of the many symptoms of a bankrupt policy initiated in the 1960s. It's not time for change, it's time for rebuilding.
