Paulina Porizkova: Models Used To Take Sexual Harassment As A Compliment

Paulina Porizkova has an undeniably beautiful face, but her shocking new revelations about her modeling career are pretty downright ugly.

The revelations come in the new documentary "About Face," which premieres at Sundance in January. The movie delves into the lives of supermodels working in the '70s and '80s (it'll be available on HBO this summer for subscribers).

Although the movie isn't out yet, we know the models in the film, which features a totally star-studded roster (Carol Alt, Isabella Rossellini, Christie Brinkley and Carmen Dell'Orefice all appear), dish on the ups and downs of growing up in front of the klieg lights and cameras.

The doc also stars modeling legend Paulina Porizkova, who explained in her HuffPost blog why she once said "modeling sucks" -- now, after reading about Porizkova's scene in the film, we know why.

In one scene, Women's Wear Daily reports, Porizkova reveals that sadly, she and her teen model ilk became so accustomed to lewd behavior that they were "flattered" by it:

"What people called sexual harassment, we called compliments. When a 16-year-old girl is flattered by a man pulling out his penis, that's noteworthy."

Oof.

Sexual harassment is a buzzing, high-profile issue in at least one arena these days; the political world has been rocked by its own with its own scandals in recent months.

And of course, questionable things are bound to happen when gorgeous young women are being paid to look sexy for (often male) photographers. To cite one recent debacle, models in this generation have risen up against controversial photographer Terry Richardson; model Jamie Peck said he stripped in front of her, and Rie Rasmussen said Richardson routinely takes inappropriate pics of underage girls.

We're sure the new documentary will be a gripping and gritty investigation of whether modeling is actually as glamorous as it seems.
