Scott Brown's Wonder Woman Date: Lynda Carter To Dine With Massachusetts Senator

Scott Brown Wins A Hot Date

In the midst of a heated reelection run, Sen. Scott Brown's (R-Mass.) free time is at a premium. A dinner date with Wonder Woman made the cut.

The Hill writes that Brown has won a meal with Lynda Carter, the star of the 1970s television series. Carter was auctioned off to Brown for $1,000 at the recent D.C.'s Funniest Celebrity charity event, with proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. (Brown, it should be noted, is married to former TV reporter Gail Huff and has two daughters.)

Brown's affinity for Wonder Woman may be one of the few items he and his opponent in the 2012 Senate race have in common. A November New York Times Magazine profile had constituents comparing Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren to the superhero.

Warren seems to like that comparison herself. During an October debate, she was asked what superhero she would be. Her answer was Wonder Woman.

Recent polls show that Warren may live up to that superhero title. Last week's University of Massachusetts at Amherst survey has the former consumer finance watchdog holding a four-point edge.

"These numbers could mean trouble for Scott Brown," said UMass political scientist Brian Schaffner. "The race is a dead heat and his support is well under 50 percent, which usually means difficulty for an incumbent, especially this far out from Election Day."
