WATCH: Boy In Haiti Rescued From Deep Hole, Possible Sex Trafficking (VIDEO)

Badly baten, naked and hungry, a Haitian child now called Miguel had been left in a deep hole for days.

Haiti officials believe he was put there by sex traffickers.

"It is possible that Miguel was put in the hole, just waiting for the right time to be picked up again and to be trafficked through the border," Pastor Yves Prophete, who now cares for Miguel, told CNN.

Miguel, who can barely speak, was rescued by Brigade for the Protection of Minors and stays at All of God's Children orphanage in Port-au-Prince, CNN reports.

An estimated 2,000 children are trafficked to the Dominican Republic from Haiti each year, for labor, sex or continued sale, according to UNICEF.

Both countries told CNN they're working together to stem trafficking.
