'American Psycho' Remake In The Works

Psycho

Can you say too soon?

Just eleven years ago, the yuppie-tastic adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' "American Psycho" made its way to the big screen and it seems it's about time for an update.

According to Variety, Lionsgate is eyeing for writer Noble Jones to re-imagine the film.

"American Psycho" was set to the backdrop of the Wall Street boom of the 1980s and follows a wealthy investment banker who moonlights as a homicidal maniac.

It starred...oh, gosh. Who can remember? It's been so long and who knows what that actor is even up to these days.

The project is in its early development but the script is said to explore how the character "would fare in modern day Gotham."

An interesting choice of words...

Who do you think should star in the revamp?

Good Morning All,
He is a good actor. He will pull it off. But why keep making the same movies? I agree. .

Are young people really so stupid that they won;t watch or find out about a film that is 10 years old?

I'm starting to think that they should close down Hollywood until someone comes up with a new idea....and remaking foreign films don't constitute as a "new idea" either.

Well, Hollywood since the beginning has made films based on novels (Gone with the Wind 1939, Pride and Prejudice1940, and Nineteen Eighty-Four 1954), so I think it's fair to let Hollywood slide with comic books. But I'll never forgive Hollywood for Green Lantern and Y the Last-Man is untouchable. lol

Wow, what an awful idea. The movie was great the way it was, I can't imagine why on earth they would think of remaking it, especially only a decade after the original. Updating it to modern day sounds stupid, too. What, is Patrick going to change his "I had to return some videotapes" to "I had to deposit my Netflix DVDs in the mailbox"?

I wish they would stop remaking movies 5-10 years after the original, or first remake. This is just getting ridiculous.

Where is M. Night shayamalan? Where is James Cameron? Where is Kasi Lemmons? Where is Diablo Cody? Where is Jeff Nathanson and Ross Lamanna? I wish we could resurrect John Hughes. All these guys need to rescue us from the treacherous No Creativity Monster. I'm tired of this.

Heh well for starters M Night Shayamalan is busy making his sequel to "The Last Airbender"

No, no no no no no!!

Christian Bale nailed and possibly even surpassed Ellis's vision. Remaking the movie will only cheapen the franchise and line some nerd's pockets.

That's so strange. The film is really a great adaptation of the book and Bret Easton Ellis is widely known for thinking Christian Bale was perfect as Patrick Bateman (In his book Lunar Park he even refers to a Patrick Bateman impersonator looking just like Christian Bale.) The film also perfectly captured the dark, odd humor and style of the book... The only thing a new film could offer is a more accurate adaptation of the violence in the book which I'm not sure I'd like to see... reading it was enough.

Wasn't this in works to be made into a musical? That was the word a few years ago.

Is this by the geniuses that brought us the FABULOUS remakes of Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, the Hitcher, Texas Chainsaw Massacre...

I could go on, but it hurts me so.

No this is from the geniuses that brought us The Social Network...

Not sure where you're getting that factoid.

The Noble Jones part? He was the 2nd unit director of The Social Network.

Or Lionsgate? Which had nothing to do with Social Network but instead brought us gems such as Madea's Big Happy Family, this year's Conan the Barbarian, and My Bloody Valentine 3D.
