Valentino Virtual Museum Feted By Stars, Socials (PHOTOS)

When Valentino retired in January 2008, the fashion world celebrated with a runway extravaganza, parties galore and a documentary, "The Last Emperor," to boot. So it is only fitting that when the designer celebrates a new milestone, he's doing it as only an emperor can do.

After a special inauguration at the Museum of Modern Art on Monday M.C.'d by Anne Hathaway, Valentino feted his newest venture, the Valentino Virtual Museum, at a gala on Wednesday evening.

The virtual archive, hailed as an impressive achievement of innovation and design, contains over 300 Valentino pieces as well as 5,000 images of dresses, sketches and photos from the Valentino archive. Just a few of those dresses were on the backs of stars and socials at last night's fete, held at the IAC building in New York.

Sarah Jessica Parker came out with husband Matthew Broderick to show her support, as did Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes wearing Valentino's signature red. Daphne Guinness looked, well, totally like Daphne Guinness in vertiginous mary janes and Rachel Zoe was ever the fashion goddess in luxuriously detailed black and white.

And Valentino? With his tanned skin, coiffed hair, flourish of a pocket square and impeccable pin-striped suit, he was truly fashion's man of the hour.
