Frank Gehry Designs Grammy Poster

Famous Architect Designs Grammy Poster

The innovative architect Frank Gehry has turned his propensity for out-of-left-field lines on the new poster for the 54th Grammy awards. The Recording Academy, which produces the awards, said on its website, "The work integrates traditional GRAMMY iconography with Gehry's unique architectural style in a piece that mirrors The Recording Academy's commitment to celebrating excellence and diversity in art and culture year-round."

The artwork will be used as a promotional symbol for the awards, gracing everything from the GRAMMY Awards program book to the telecast tickets and posters. Gehry commented that he was thankful to be given the opportunity, "I have been fortunate to have worked with and become friends with some of the top musicians in classical music," the architect said. "They are my inspiration and my heroes. I am pleased to work with the GRAMMYs to help celebrate all of these talented people."

Gehry's buildings have received 100 national or regional American Institute of Architects awards and in 1998 he was awarded the National Medal of Arts. His most notable buildings include the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Nationale-Nederlanden Building in Prague. You can view the poster here.
