Recently, a series of roadside bombs killed 11 people and injured dozens more in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad. The attacks were part of coordinated assaults by insurgent elements around the country that killed 32 people and remind us how violent the area remains.

If something isn't done about the economic situation and the unemployment in this country soon, you can bet any city in the US would qualify as the most dangerous city in the world.

I have never been more petrified in my life than when I had to pull over in Gary Indiana so that my traveling companion could use the washroom in a gas station, late at night. Out of state plates made the vehicle we were traveling in an object of interest for some gang bangers who were loitering around the dimly lit parking lot. It only lasted a few minutes and nothing happened, but was I ever relieved to get out of there.

Only one on the list I've been to is Tbilisi and I wasn't concerned for my safety.

The scariest place I've been was Lagos.

But, I guess a lot is perception; I really hate to be on the streets of NYC

I thought Mogadishu would have been in the top ten.

Without a doubt the most dangerous city in the world is Washington, DC USA.

Look at the last sixty six years alone.

The number of innocent victims killed by the thugs who run DC, (the 'Merican gumment), must be close to ten million.

BTW Caracas Venezuela has the highest murder rate in the world. Tell me again which Israeli Army is attacking them? Or is it the US?

Colon, Panama is no bed of roses either. On the other hand, the second city of Venezuela, Merida up in the Andes, is not dangerous and quite lovely.

And all those African nations that Evil Great Satan and His Jew Overlords have invaded and occupied for half a century........?

FYI from 1994-2001 the US State Dept classified South Africa and the most dangerous country not actually at war.

Billions of dollars in untraceable cash funneled to Bush Administration favorites. Billions more in defense contracts also delivered to the same people.

Be in the wrong place at the wrong time and ANY city is dangerous. Try walking or jogging in Central Park, NYC, after midnight.

The key is to always be alert, not to gawk or act like a tourist. I've never had trouble there but use a ton of common sense. It's actually a pretty safe place, opposed to, say, certain areas of Frankfurt where they segregate the _drug _addicts.

Try walking through yakuza-town Kabukicho, Tokyo after midnight... oh, wait, that's actually safe. OK, how about strolling through Singapore's "rough neighborhood" of Gaylang after midnight? Oh, my bad! That's safe too. Well, how about doing your post-midnight constitutional in the grittiest neighborhood you can find in Dublin? Oops! Safe! Frankfurt? Safe! Seoul? As long as you stay away from the US military bases, that's safe. Amsterdam? Safe. Beijing? Safe.

Not all cities are lethally dangerous.

Kabuki-cho is actually a place to avoid after dark, but kind of neat during the day. Just like Central Park.
