Charlotte Gainsbourg May Star In von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac'

Charlotte Gainsbourg, the actress daughter of Jane Birkin and French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg, may star in Lars von Trier's latest film, but this is not a role for a daddy's girl.

"Nymphomaniac," von Trier's lastest project is an explicit chronicle of one woman's exploits and her sexual evolution from age 0 to 50.

The story, which will be told over eight chapters, is not so much porn as it is a "philosophical construct with a lot of sex," according to Flavor Wire. The film will be released with two versions, a softcore version for more mainstream audiences and a hardcore version that will reportedly feature penetration.

However, Gainsbourg is familiar with von Trier's modus operandi, having starred in his most recent, "Melancholia" and "Antichrist," which earned her the best actress honor at Cannes in May. If she were to secure the part, she could be reunited with her "Antichrist" co-star Willem Dafoe and given how their last scenes together played out, von Trier's latest could be a piece of cake.
