Michael Savage Offers Newt Gingrich One Million Dollars To Drop Out Of Race

Savage Gingrich

Conservative radio host Michael Savage has offered Newt Gingrich $1 million to drop out of the Republican primary race.

Savage posted the announcement on his website, and will go over the specific terms during his radio show on Monday.

He wrote that the Republican primary race has come down to two candidates: Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. He said that Romney was the only candidate capable of beating President Barack Obama in the general election. Therefore, he has offered Gingrich $1 million to "drop out of the presidential race for the sake of the nation."

Savage, who hosts the third-highest rated radio program in the country, outlined the reasons why he believed Gingrich was incapable of beating Obama. In addition to his marital infidelity, checkered past as Speaker of the House, and involvement with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Savage wrote that Gingrich "will come off badly compared to Obama" during presidential debates. Savage wrote that he will "look like nothing more than what he is: a fat old white man."

In order to claim his prize, Gingrich must drop out of the race within 72-hours. Savage urged Gingrich to "take the money."

Savage is far from the only right-wing pundit or host with harsh words for Gingrich. Below, see what other conservative media figures have been saying.

In a December 7 column, conservative pundit Ann Coulter wrote about Newt's history:

Gingrich has spent his years since [his first year as Speaker of the House] having an affair, divorcing his second wife and making money by being the consummate Washington insider -- trading on access, taking $1.6 million from Freddie Mac and palling around with Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi and Al Sharpton.

Even Chuck Schumer wouldn't be seen doing a joint event with Al Sharpton! But Newt seeks approval from strange places.

Newt Gingrich is the "anti-Establishment" candidate only if "the Establishment" is defined as "anyone who remembers what happened the day before yesterday."

Ann Coulter, please begin wearing blouses with sleeves. Your arms are positively ropey.

Well, it has finally happened! First Romney offers to "BET" $10,000 to prove a point during an economic downturn that rivals the Depression for many. Now, M. Savage offers to BUY the republican nomination for the White House. I don't know if anyone is really watching, but doesn't this negate the will of the people? So M. Savage and associates know better presumably than the people who will vote for Romney, Gingrich, Bachmann, Huntsman and Ryan?

Why oes the elite WITHIN the GOP cry foul when people say they are for the super rich, yet allow asinine things like this to occur without condemning them? Can't we pretend that its the peoples choice that will elect the President?

Im awaiting the outcry from the middle-class Republican who still feels he should have the right to choose who represents him in the White House.

Come on Michael what's a million dollars to a guy who is worth at least 30 times that much, and whose clients pay him $30,000 per month for blowing in their ears? Hey, but it sure got you some great "print" face time.

I understand that the RNC is scrambling around to find a new bumper sticker to replace their old "Character Matters! sticker.

Why would he take a $million to do any such thing. He's already a multi-millionaire and if he does become President, he will make way more than that in salary, pension benefits and perks. BTW... a reminder to all fans of Bill Clinton... if it wasn't for Newt putting the pressure on him as the House Seaker, Clinton would have been worse than Obama. Oh yeah, he also was a huge cheater, but I guess that's OK if you're a Liberal.

I am told that what Savage offered Newt was a million dollars in monopoly money? There isn't any mention of that here? My source says this is so stated on Savages website?
04:02 PM on 12/14/2011
Michael Savage doesn't like a Tax increase but HE WILL PAY SOMEONE 1 MILLION DOLLARS TO NOT RUN FOR PRESIDENT ! ! That is exactly what i've been saying all along. Spend 100 billion collectively to keep tax cuts in place but DO NOT give a nickel TO HELP "OUR COUNTRY" ? ? ?

So why is Newt any different that the rest of the Washington Politicians? Seems to me that all of them are out to make money for themselves and to hell with the American people no matter what party they are!
04:14 PM on 12/15/2011
They are ALL the same both parties.Career politicians that could not run a successful lemonade stand..When are we going to wise up and elect a successful person like Warren Buffet or Bill Gates as President??
03:26 PM on 12/14/2011
why would he take 1mil when the gop party itself would probably pay him 5 times that much to drop out.

The Republicans seem to make such big bucks doing nothing. It's no wonder they think it's our fault that we don't have jobs and need no help. Millions seem to fall from the sky for the GOPTP politicians and presidential candidates. One week the candidates are broke, the next they have 2 million in the bank. Even Bachmann. How do they do that? And is it legal?

Exactly, I am surprised that Michael Savage has allowed himself to be used by the GOP like this. The same party that trotted out John McCain is now, in all their wisdom, trying to give us another loser.

I wonder if the GOP has maybe given Michael Savage a couple million dollars to float their leaky boat.
03:23 PM on 12/14/2011
As an Independent who tends to lean left, I'd like Michael Savage to jump in the race... I don't think Mitt or Newt has the ability to beat Obama,,, The one that needs to run is Gov.Christie... we need a ball buster in the house...

I don't have balls, but if I did Bush would have smashed them to smitherines like he did to my bank account. I don't think American could take another one and still survive.

Marital infidelity and checkered past as speaker of the House are reasons for a Repub to drop out and they are hailed as victors if it is a Democrat wioth the same track record. Since when has infidelity or corruption been concerns for democratic candidates? The bar should be even on both sides of the Aisle, as it is filled with crooks, panderers, slanderers, womanizers, liars, cheaters and thats just a warm up. There is no moral high ground on either side. Newt is no worse than Obama, he is more experienced though. Obama is a much better panderer, and he is lights out as a illicit money raiser. He is also a standout community organizer (slang for corrupt political leader) both these guys are crooks. And the House and Senate is filled with scam artists under both parties.

Obama doesn't have to take pledges to be faithful, nor does he take money and then deny it and speak out against the firm he is being paid for. The house and senate both need to clean house so Obama can get some jobs going that will stay here. The pipeline as it now stands that the GOP is promoting means jobs for Canadians and environmental disaster for us. Obama was right to put it on hold.

You are clueless and need to expand your sources of information if you don't think Obama is in this for his own benefit. Check into his "shady" purchase of his million dollar home. Obama loves other peoples money just as much, if not more, than any Republican out there and what makes it worse is that he tries to hide that fact by pandering to the poor working stiffs who are dumb enough to think he's any different.

If I were Newt and thinking about accepting this offer, I'd want Savage to show me the money. I don't think he has it. I think he's just blowing hot air.

If Newt were me, he'd take the million, breathe a huge sigh of relief and thank God he was now able to pay the rent and the utility bills.
02:18 PM on 12/14/2011
why does he want to be president anyway, he's raking it in as a lobbyist... 65+ million from health care industry.... 1.6 or 1.3 from freddie mac?... maybe he is waiting for someone to pay him enough to get out of the race as he is a man for sale, but it's gonna cost more than 1 million, that barely pays his tiffany bill..

Egos as large as Newt's cannot be appeased with money. A dyed in the wool egotist such as Gingrich needs public approval and acclamation. Nothing will sate his desire to be admired, if not adored, except being sworn in as President of the United States. Of course, once the ceremony is over he will have absolutely no interest in dealing with all of the minutiae and leave those chores to the lessor people around him.
