Princess Caroline Of Monaco Receives 'People In Europe' Award From Karl Lagerfeld (PHOTOS)

Karl Lagerfeld smiling? With children??

Some of our favorite things -- the Kaiser, royals, cute little kids -- have seemingly joined forces for an event in Europe today. The occasion? The Menschen In Europa (People In Europe) Award, which brings together artists, religious leaders, politicians and business figures (the Dalai Lama won in 2010).

Princess Caroline of Monaco (Prince Albert II's sister) was presented an award for her charity work by none other than Karl Lagerfeld. We imagine the designer was happy to be there, but you couldn't really tell given that he barely cracked a smile and appeared to lunge at Caroline's neck like a vampire.

Surprisingly, the little blonde tykes standing on stage weren't too scared. They sort of just clung to their bouquets for dear life and hoped the scary man with the sunglasses wouldn't steal them.

See the pics below... are they not begging for a caption contest?
