Rooney Mara Wears Ghostly Givenchy Couture At 'Dragon Tattoo' Premiere (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 12/12/2011 1:28 pm   Updated: 12/12/2011 1:30 pm

Tonight's world premiere of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" in London drew all eyes to the film's star Rooney Mara, who walked the red carpet looking almost ghostly in her white gown and pale skin.

Mara, 31, wowed in a white cutout Givenchy fall 2011 couture dress (here it is on the runway!) and a sleek brunette bowl cut, reminding us a little bit of, well, "Ghost"-era Demi Moore.

Daniel Craig was also in attendance, looking dapper in a black suit and leather jacket.

The film is set to be released in the U.S. on December 21.

Check out the pics and weigh in on our poll below: is Rooney looking rapturous?

THAT is a seriously ugly hairdo! Looks like a monk's tonsure.

i hope those bangs are for a movie role because they are terribly unflattering on anyone!

Is she in a movie?

It's rather hard to express "blankly stares at you in wonder" in words.

Apparently, Rooney Mara nailed this:

Thinking back to the way Noomi Rapace thoroughly owned the Stieg Larsson-created heroine Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish films, it seems impossible that Rooney Mara — who projected a choirgirl wholesomeness in previous roles — could possibly compare. But not only does Mara match Rapace's intensity and dark seductiveness, she makes the character thoroughly her own. As played by Mara, Lisbeth is the ultimate badass; a formidable force of hyperintellect and raging sexuality. Lisbeth, a devilishly brilliant hacker who masks a nightmarish past with goth makeup, punk hair, ink, piercings and shaved eyebrows. She’s far from invulnerable, but even when exploited — and the film often treats her with savage sadism — perseveres because she’s so indomitable.

So, wait, it's "Angelic" if it's Elle Fanning, and it's "Ghostly" if it's rooney Mara? Just so I get it straight.

I agree. The headline is ridiculous.

I agree too.Because she's wearing a white dress (not a fan of the dress) and her makeup is toned down she's "ghostly".These writers are ridiculous.

Fanning has light blond hair; Mara's is jet black. That is where the contrast comes from. It's not meant to be a negative connotation, I don't think.

It's too bad they didn't get a picture of the back of the dress. I think she looks beautiful but a bit uncomfortable.

The Girl with the Backwards Name. She's cute; I'm not liking the dress so much. I think in burgundy, it would be fab.

Pleeeeese don't drag Ms. Hepburn into this atrocity....wow, she's just so gross and unattractive enough so that the English think she's a 'something.' That look is stunningly and shockingly awful in this country, but it's amusing and almost cute nowadays when the so-called 'fashion-industry' chimes in and attempts to pass this vomit-inducing look off as "attractive" or "fashionable" or however else they beg and try to describe this mistake off as....women with curves and smiles and good hair still reign in the good ole' USA....

You sound like a very hateful person. I have pity for you.

The look she's come up with isn't Demi Moore; it's Audrey Hepburn.

I do like the dress. I think it's really pretty and she looks pretty in it. The only thing I don't like is picture #3, her posture looks a little to stiff. Other then that its five 5 stars! Beautiful!
