VIDEO: Soldier Michael Smith Proposes To Girlfriend Lindy Gonzalez at Miami International Airport

A woman planning to surprise her soldier boyfriend at Miami International Airport Friday night got the shock of a lifetime when he dropped to one knee and proposed at the gate, reports WTSP.

Lindy Gonzalez had organized a welcoming party as surprise for U.S. Army Specialist Michael Smith on his return from duty in Afghanistan. Unbeknownst to her, the entire welcoming party was in on a plan of Smith's, too -- to propose. When his delayed flight finally arrived, Smith whipped out a ring and dropped to one knee in front of Gonzalez, who was stopped in her tracks.

"Will you marry me?" he asked his stunned girlfriend, who needed a minute to process the turn of events as airline employees looked on.

"Yes!" she responded, to cheers from passengers and members of his welcome committee, before adding bashfully, "This is going to be on TV, do you know that?"

Smith, of course, didn't mind. The couple, who live in Oregon, according to WSVN, were meeting up in South Florida so Smith could meet her family.
