Bart Hess is a jack of many trades as a frequent artistic collaborator of Lady Gaga. Hess has also worked with some of the biggest names in fashion and photography, including Iris van Herpen and Nick Knight.
Despite his chosen arenas of fine art, fashion and photography, Hess is an inter-disciplinary artist capable of exploring the deeper connections between the body and its structural representation.
Based in the Netherlands, Hess originally created "Echo" for the National Glassmuseum as an exploration of the different ways that structure can alter and alienate the human form. Hess is currently known as the mind behind the beautiful slimy sequence in Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" video.
In the case of "Echo" we are bombarded with disorienting transformations of the subject dictated by materials that seem to work for and against their original shell at the same time.
