Glen Owen Godec, a 46-year-old Colorado Springs photographer that worked with kids at middle schools and and in local dance troupes, has been arrested on charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a child, The Gazette reports.
Godec had been under investigation for five months and was finally arrested on Dec. 6. in Colorado Springs, 7News reports. Police are saying that Godec allegedly repeatedly sexually abused an 11-year-old girl, watched pornographic videos with her and had pornographic images of her, the girl's sister and other unidentified children.
According to the arrest affidavit, police found 778 photos on a hard drive of Godec's that showed people believed to be under the age of 18 nude or partially nude. The police were first tipped off about the alleged crimes, when the 11-year-old victim's mother first called the police when she found a vibrator in the girl's bedroom that the girl said Godec gave to her, the Gazette reported. The girl told investigators that Godec had her sit on his lap, touch her and use the vibrator on her while they watched videos on a porn website together.
The alleged sex-crimes are thought to have taken place at Godec's home, not on school grounds or in a public place. A friend of the victim's family who wished to remain unidentified told KRDO, "It's a long road for the girls. They don't want to be around any guy in a closed room by themselves. They're just trying to be regular girls now."
KKTV spoke with some of Godec's former neighbors, one of which said, "He just made me feel uneasy. He stared a lot, when he would do that and I would come outside, it was a really uneasy feeling."
Because Godec was a photographer of children at schools and dance studios, The Denver Post reports that any parents who think their children may have had inappropriate contact with Godec to call investigators at 719-444-7640.
