'The Daily Show': Jon Stewart's Take On Mitt Romney's $10,000 Bet (VIDEO)

Jon Stewart On Mitt Romney's $10,000 Bet

Many fans of "The Daily Show" (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) were no doubt waiting to hear Jon Stewart's response to Mitt Romney's $10,000 bet offer to Rick Perry on this Saturday's GOP debate. Stewart's first response: "This is awesome!"

He then broke it down. "A mormom gambling with an evangelical over who's the bigger liar," he said. "Are there any commandments left?" Romney is continuing to get a lot of criticism for the gaffe, which he says was never intended to be taken literally.

Correspondent John Oliver explained that his vast personal wealth is Romney's Achilles' heel, much like infidelity is the focus of New Gingrich's weakness among voters. That's why the specific and high dollar amount is stinging his campaign so much.

As for Rick Perry? "Rick Perry has an Achilles' head," Oliver explained, before cutting to a clip of Perry trying to answer a question, but struggling to formulate his thoughts.

Oliver's conclusion was that the candidates need to embrace their narratives, or the aspect of them that voters simplify them with. In other words, threaten Newt Gingrich and us with the horrible things he can do to us because of his wealth.
