Fox News' Graphic Department Having A Very Bad Week

Fox News' Graphic Department Having A Very Bad Week

Earlier today, in what might have been the unkindest cut of all to poor Mitt Romney, the Fox News Channel ran a graphic that didn't quite capture the way he's been performing in the Iowa polls. Anchor Megyn Kelly previews this chart of the current poll standings by noting that Newt Gingrich's "support may be fading," but if you look closely, Romney's done anything but fade. In fact, he sort of has that "Kenyan anti-colonialist" look to him, you know?

In this case, Fox was able to offer viewers a correction in a timely fashion, but as Erik Wemple notes, Roger Ailes' outfit has been having a pretty tough week all around when it comes to the creation of on-screen graphics. Earlier this week, the Fox graphics pros failed elementary geography in rather spectacular fashion, and prior to that, they put up this hilariously inaccurate graph of the unemployment rate's trendline. (I tend to think of the former instance being an "error" and the latter chart as a "pretty neat trick that Fox hoped no one will notice.")

Anyway, ACORN is probably to blame, etc.
