Wynwood's First Mega Club, House, To Open Next Year
Next time you can't decide whether to stay home or go clubbing, you just might have the option to do both. Wynwood's getting its first mega nightclub, House. Rather than a nod to the utz-utz- music genre, the name refers the overused adage "There's no place like home."
Mark Lowe, who opened Living Room in Fort Lauderdale as well 12 other clubs internationally, is collaborating with visual artist Sebastian-Aaron and Glass House Productions to open the new venue.
Lowe says "House will be more of a living, breathing art installation than a nightclub, which is only fitting considering its location. My goal is to change the way Miami sees nightlife, and because this is a 'house,' all the naughty things you do behind closed doors will be revealed."
Modeled as a home of the future, the 9,000-square-foot space will feature kitchens as bars, bouncers in PJs, VIP areas with showers, and even nightstands full of naughty novelties. The space gets futuristic with high-tech visual and sound installations, panoramic projections, holograms, and 3D architectural mapping.
Lowe, who came to Miami 12 years ago as a model on a photo shoot, says the club will cater to both the gay and straight communities in Miami. The grand opening, originally slated for Winter 2011 and its Basel crowds, has been pushed to early February 2012. The exact Wynwood location has not been announced. With its first ever club and the food truck lot recently sold to developers, Wynwood's gentrification appears to be on warp speed.
