Bear Sleeping In Basement Found By New Jersey Repairman (VIDEO)

Man Finds Sleeping Bear In Basement

A cable TV repairman had his very own Goldilocks moment Wednesday when he found a sleeping bear in the basement of a home in Hopatcong, New Jersey, NBC New York reported.

The 500-pound bear was spotted in the neighborhood earlier in the week, according to the Associated Press, though it was unclear how it made its way into the house.

The repairman left the snoozing bear alone until Michael Madoni, a state conservation officer, arrived and shot it with a tranquilizer around 2:30 p.m, the New Jersey Herald reported. The bear was then moved to the Berkshire Valley Wildlife Management Area where it could be released back into the wild.

Earlier this week, one New Zealand woman got the surprise of her life when she found a baby seal playing in her kitchen. Later, after the pup zonked out on her couch, she called the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), who called the Department of Conservation to pick up the sleepy seal.

"I thought 'I'm hallucinating, this is just wrong,'" Annette Swoffer, the homeowner, told the New Zealand Herald. "Then it looks at me with those huge brown eyes. It was so cute..."
