Blake Griffin Chris Paul Clippers
Blaike Griffin and DeAndre Jordan celebrate after hearing that Chris Paul was traded to the Clippers.

Blake Griffin and Chris Paul on the same team? Yes, please.

As you probably know by now, the ongoing Chris Paul trade rumor mill bonanza has finally come to an end. The NBA-owned New Orleans Hornets finally traded the All-Star point guard to the Los Angeles Clippers in a blockbuster deal for Chris Kaman, Eric Gordon, Al-Farouq Aminu and a first-round draft choice acquired from Minnesota.

When Clippers phenom Blake Griffin heard the news, it was as if Christmas came early. Fox Sports West was there to capture his reaction.

"Yeah! It's going to be lob city," Griffin said after teammate DeAndre Jordan told him of the deal. Within hours of Griffin's "Lob City" declaration, basketball fans could already buy t-shirts emblazoned with the slogan.

After missing the entire 2009 season due to a knee injury, Griffin emerged as arguably the most entertaining player to watch last year thanks to his array of rim rattling and gravity defying in-game dunks. His pure athleticism took the NBA by storm, as he went on to win the slam dunk contest and Rookie of the Year award. And now that he will be joined by one of the best point guards in the league, all eyes will finally be locked on that other team that plays in the Staples Center.

Loading up a team with a lot of talent (Miami Heat) is not always a recipe for the fairy tale success everyone is looking for. Talent alone does not make greatness.

Excited for lob city, but I'm nervous about a team with two franchise players with wonky knees.

The only thing that is better than CP3 playing with Blake is the fact Kobe is all sad pants about it! LOL I hate the Lakers.

They couldn't have Paul on their team anyway, not enough money and they already have two ball stoppers.

As a Celtics fan, I find it hilarious to see Lakers fans crying and moaning all over the internet because they think they're entitled to whatever they want.

Now the Clippers may be worth watching. Good deal. I wish Mr. Paul luck in the future.

So, in 15 minutes as Chris Paul is walking to the podium at the press conference to introduce him as a Clipper, will David Stern call to negate the deal?

I understand why the NBA wouldn't want Paul to go from the Hornets to the Lakers, but the Clippers? It's Los Angeles, the second biggest market in the country. If there's a conspiracy, maybe it's that the NBA wants to help the Clippers rise at last.

"the NBA wants to help the Clippers rise at last"

Yeah, we all know Donald Sterling sure didn't want them to rise.
04:18 PM on 12/15/2011
They should just change their name to the Los Angeles Alley Oops and be done with it.

Actually, any name change would be good. The name "Clippers" is so synonymous with "badly run sports franchise" that anything else would be an improvement.

Whoa, whoa, step on the brakes.

I was just sort of kidding around there. I don't hate any sports team (though I wouldn't shed any tears if the Yankees and Cowboys disappeared...)

Too expensive and - unless Donald Sterling pulls a Donald Sterling - the name is about to be re-invented. I did, though, think the franchise should have dumped the Clipper name when it came to LA. But, it makes more sense for LA than "Lakers" does.
04:17 PM on 12/15/2011
If anything it was a perfect trade just to hear local sports radio and all the Laker fans crying like abused babies, that alone is worth it...Go Clippers!
