Eddie Murphy As Marion Barry: Wendy Williams Is Psyched (VIDEO)

Wendy Williams Is Psyched To Watch Eddie Murphy Play Marion Barry

Eddie Murphy may have dropped out as host of the Oscars, but he recently scored a major role as former Washington D.C. mayor Marion Barry in a made-for-HBO movie to be directed by Spike Lee. It figures to be a meaty, dramatic role for the prolific stand-up comic to sink his teeth into: Barry's career was filled with peaks and valleys, including his scandalous arrest for using crack-cocaine in 1990.

It certainly has the potential to be an interesting project, and no one was happier to hear the news than Wendy Williams. In the hot topic segment of "The Wendy Williams Show," (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) she previewed the biopic. "It's gonna be wild and sloppy and messy ... I don't even care that you backed out of the Oscars," she beamed, before reminding her audience of Barry's sordid personal history. Reflecting on how Barry was able to win mayoral re-election in 1995, Williams tipped her hat to her Washington D.C. viewers for being so forgiving.
