Oscar Dogs: Uggie From 'The Artist' & Cosmo From 'Beginners' (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Oscar Dogs

Both Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo earned Golden Globe nominations on Thursday for their turns in the critically acclaimed film "The Artist," but the silent film's third star was left out in the cold -- which probably meant that Uggie the dog was scratching desperately at the bottom of the proverbial door.

Filmgoers and bloggers alike have gone crazy for Uggie, the faithful canine companion to Dujardin's depressed former silent film star in the movie. There is a campaign to get the furry friend an Oscar nomination, and this new, high-style photo shoot with The Hollywood Reporter should help the cause.

Joining Uggie is Cosmo, who played the pup in the Christopher Plummer film "Beginners." With all this buzz, perhaps there should be a separate awards category for animals? After all, Matt Damon had a whole host of feathery, furry and frightening co-stars in "We Bought A Zoo," and they would appreciate some recognition.

I have a Jack Russell from a shelter up in Jersey...we did not do our homework into researching the breed before getting him....They are smart, intense...very intense! He is worth everything though -- His name is Freeway because he was found running down a new jersey freeway! He had some issues at first, but that was 4 years ago - I love my animals unconditionally, as they do the same for me. Because of that, I think they heal better from any emotional trauma they acquire in the time before meeting me... Im not sure of some of the so called rules out there for training a dog, and I don't care, I know what works for me. My friends call me a dog whisperer!

I always thought that funny looking little dog in As Good As it Gets should have been nominated right up there with Nicholson and Hunt. And Greg Kinnear was robbed that year as well. He was terrific. The scene where the dog gets all ADD and steps over the cracks in the sidewalk was a scream.

Oh.

For a minute, I thought it was Asta and Mrs. Asta.

Uggier is definitely one of the co=-stars of this excellent movie. I would go and see it again just to concentrate on his actions. However, looking at the two stars is also a thrill. I loved this movie.

the statue should be in the shape of a dog :-) and then we should have awards for--- cats, and bears and snakes, and monkey, and wolves, and bats, and mice, and rats, and birds, and killer whales, and dolphins, and dinosaurs, and chupacabra, and vampires...and ohhhh I'm tired lol

Cosmo? The dog from Frazier? yes? no?
04:10 PM on 12/18/2011
I agree it looks just like Eddie but that series ended long and had a good run. I doubt Eddie is alive anymore.

The link below says Eddie's real name was Moose and he died in 2006.

If you're afraid to click on the links it's on wikipedia.

He is the best dog, love the one with this "wife" and brings the bone home to all those different puppies. Those are great commercials.

Aw, Cosmo looks almost exactly like my Cassidy Sundance, who I basically grew up with!

They should go on tour from city to city raising money for that city's humane society.
