'The Year With Katie Couric': J.R. Martinez Ends The Interview With A Dance (VIDEO)

J.R. Martinez Dances With Katie Couric

"J.R. Martinez became a hero on the battlefield when the Humvee he was driving hit a landmine," Katie Couric said on "The Year With Katie Couric" (Thu., 9PM ET on ABC). His was the story that would touch the nation, as he triumphed over his injuries and never seemed to lose that smile. But it was with his performances on "Dancing With the Stars" that he captivated a whole new legion of fans, scoring the first perfect 10s of the season.

"Who would have thought dancing would actually change your life?" Martinez said. "Dancing is a beautiful thing." And with that, he declared that he was done talking.

So he and Couric took to the dance floor and spent the rest of their time moving gracefully across it. Couric proved a more than capable partner for the "DWTS" champion. Maybe she should consider giving the show a try should her busy schedule ever free up.

Since taking the mirrorball trophy, Martinez has been invited to the Pentagon, and continues his tireless work to help wounded veterans and burn victims across the nation. He is an inspiration both on the dance floor and in life.
