Aisha Khan Missing: Student Disappears After Altercation With Drunken Stranger

First Posted: 12/19/11 03:50 PM ET Updated: 12/20/11 08:26 AM ET

The search for a missing 19-year-old Kansas woman -- last heard from via frightful text message that said a drunken man was pestering her -- yielded few promising leads over the weekend.

Aisha Khan, a student at Johnson County Community College, went missing at approximately 11:00 a.m. Friday morning while studying for her final exams on the University of Kansas, Edwards Campus, The Kansas City Star reports.

"There's a creepy guy that just came up to me, and he was harassing me," Aisha wrote in a text message, according to Faiza Khan, her older sister. To get the man to back off, Khan slapped him, according to the message she sent her sister.

A contingent of volunteers and at least 30 police officers spent much of the weekend searching for the missing student, who the family believes was abducted by the unknown man that accosted her.

Khan's cell phone and backpack were found on a picnic table near campus, KMBC reports.

A Facebook group dedicated to her search describes Khan as 5 feet 2 inches tall, 120 pounds with dark brown hair, brown eyes, and glasses. There is also a Twitter feed following the search for Khan.

A $10,000 reward being offered as incentive for any information leading to Khan's safe recovery.

"We need everybody to be thinking about Aisha all of the time," said her uncle Adil Sheikh, according to The Kansas City Star.

I'll give you one guess as to what happened to this woman in bigoted Kansas - one look at the representatives from that state should speak volumes. May God take care of her now...

She was really Kidnapped, Police negotiated with the kidnapper for her Life and Safety. Kidnapper then released her to avoid any charges on him. Don't you idiots understand this. If She voluntarily left and staged her own kidnapping FBI and Police would not let her go without Charges.

There are Police negotiates who always negotiates with the kidnappers in this kind of situations. Thank God She is Safe and Alive. Good Job Police, FBI and responsible Citizen of USA. Lets help other girls too who gets kidnapped daily.

Sounds pretty fishy to me. I'm happy she's okay but how come there is no mention as to where she was? Very strange.

Huff Post, late on the news as usual. The girl was found but the Huff Post is obviously still lost in their fantasy world of yellow journalism. This paper is little more than a liberal blog that borders on tabloid news. They censor anybody they don't agree with. May they get the name they deserve: the "National Inquirer of Online News".

Read this quickly before they censor it as well.

Yep! Agreed! Many of my post don't get their stamp of approval but, as I proceed to scroll down the page I see post after post of absolute nonsense. Huffington Post seems to preference the most absurd and ridiculous of it's readers. Correct me If I'm wrong.

You are correct. Stand by to be deleted by the editor for breaking their policy of being accurate and centered in your view.

If you're going to be a runaway bride email people or call them and let them know. Getting the police involved is really stupid.

So...I have to ask....are there laws against staging your own abduction? LE and FBI could have been working on real cases for the 5 days...like BABY LISA.

She's back and OK, isn't she?

Yes there is a related story. They aren't making the story as prominent as the original story. I guess sensationalism sells more than reality.

The police should take a hard look at her father or brother if she has one or other family members.

The simplest answer is usually the truth. She was being harassed by some drunken idiot. She slapped him. Chances are this guy did something to her. I hope they find her safe and alive.
