Barney Frank's Nipples Steal The Show During House Address (VIDEO)

First Posted: 12/19/11 05:17 PM ET Updated: 12/20/11 09:24 AM ET

Outgoing Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) appeared to have the congressional equivalent of a wardrobe malfunction Monday, when he delivered an address from the House floor and ended up being upstaged by his own chest.

Dressed in a snug, light blue crew neck shirt with a jacket draped over his shoulders -- perhaps because he's now wearing a large cast on his left hand -- Frank stood at the lectern to deliver a speech on bank failures, and instead raised questions about how cold it was in the House chamber.

Frank has announced that he will retire when his current term is up. No longer beholden to electoral politics, it's possible that we'll see some more unusual sartorial decisions before he departs the halls of Congress.

Before he decides to go with this outfit again, which doesn't appear to fit under traditional House floor dress code, perhaps he should consider tracking down a "manzier," the undergarment invented by Cosmo Kramer in the 1990s sitcom "Seinfeld."

Check out Frank's look below:

HuffPost should be ashamed for publishing this hateful article that criticizes a person's body. It's as though there isn't enough shaming going around to people who are overweight or who suffer from gynecomastia. I'm an avid reader of HuffPost, but not for long if they continue to post this kind of stigmatizing, degrading, hateful fluff. Let's see you post *this* comment, HuffPost. I won't hold my breath.

and i can't even "flag" the comments as "abusive", since the whole content of the article is about shaming and bullying and making inappropriate comments on this man's body.

I know. It's all so prudish. People who make a big deal about bodies and bodily functions are disconnected from nature. Back when humans were still connected with nature and lived in tribal societies, such views would be precious, prissy, snooty, and effete----roughly similar to the story of the Princess and the Pea, where a princess had led such a sheltered life that she could sense a pea under a mountain of mattresses.

I think Barney better give Nancy back her estrogen pills. She needs them a lot more that he does. His look might be all the rage in gay bars but on the house floor its just a whole lot over the top.

I'm appalled by this! Who would want to steal Barney Frank's nipples? They should give them back.

I wonder what Karl Rove,Gorver Norquist, Dick Cheney or Governor Christie would look like wearing a similar top.

Well, I have surveyed the comments in this thread from one end to the other, and conservative voices by FAR predominate. So I guess that settles the question of why Huff Post posted it. They knew it would be like catnip to conservatives.

I really don't blame Huff Post, though. They have to try to attract as broad a demographic as they can. Publishing is a cut-throat business these days, and not playing the game well means you may have to fire employees you would rather keep-----employees who have families who depend on them.

And I doubt Barney Frank is so thin-skinned that he would lose even a minute's sleep over the article. In fact, I'll bet he gets a good laugh out of it.

But it was fascinating watching how eager the average conservative is to figuratively tar and feather a person over something as innocent as possessing nipples. LOL

Of course, they mainly did that because they hate liberals in general, and Barney Frank in particular. What surprised me is that they can't seem to separate their hatred for his politics from their eagerness to attack him for even the most superficial things, like his nipples. Don't get me wrong. I know many Democrats are guilty of the same thing. And it's just as anti-intellectual when they do it.

Interesting thread. Peculiar, but interesting.

Well done. I predict that eventually, someone will be earning a PhD that examines the "online comment" phenomenon. It can truly be bizarre (based on my own postings, lol).

How do you know they are conservatives? Is there a little star by their name or what?

Because they loudly proclaimed their conservative leanings. How do you think?

None of the puerile comments here seem to have been made by anyone perceptive enough to see that the picture is grossly distorted -- essentially Photoshopped -- by being stretched from a standard 4:3 picture to an HD Wide-Screen version, so the Senator's head looks a bit like Charley Brown of the famous Peanuts comic strip. His distorted "boobs" shrink to a normal manly size if you eliminate the fun-house mirror magnifying effect. Unfortunately the mirror doesn't work on the brains of the people making nasty (and stupid) remarks.

Great analogy, Lee-Ann! And I didn't notice the distortion until you mentioned it.

I don't see anything stretched out of shape. That's just him. I bet, if you turn him around, he has another set on his back.

Well, Lee-Ann might have been exaggerating a bit when she said that if the optical distortion were eliminated that Frank's breasts would shrink to a normal size. But she was absolutely correct about optical distortion enhancing the effect. Look a little closer.

Do you have a flat screen TV? Have you ever had it on the wrong picture size for the video you're watching? Usually, people get flattened down and broadened out. That's the case with the Barney Frank video. Lee-Ann is correct. But I was primarily complementing her on the analogy she made in the last sentence of her comment, which I thought was witty and insightful.

Does that mean you're imagining what's beneath his T-shirt? Are you undressing him with your eyes? Maybe the black bar should be across your eyes.

:-)

Or maybe it already is.
