Kim Jong Il On '30 Rock': Elizabeth Banks On How Death Will Affect Plot

After news of Kim Jong Il's passing broke, many TV fans took to Twitter to express concern ... over a fictional character.

On "30 Rock," Kim captured Jack Donaghy's (Alec Baldwin) wife, TV journalist Avery Jessup (Elizabeth Banks) in North Korea. With Avery being held captive, Jack is left to raise their newborn daughter on his own. But with Kim dead, fans wondered what would happen to that storyline.

Banks took to Twitter to thank everyone for their concern.

Margaret Cho played Kim in the Season 5 episode "Everything Sunny All the Time Always" and the Season 6 promo for "30 Rock" featured quite a bit of the ongoing North Korea storyline. So far, there's been no word on how Kim's death might play into the new season of the Tina Fey-created comedy. NBC declined to comment.
