Mitt Romney Picks Up Bob Dole Endorsement

ABC News:

Former Kansas Senator and 1996 GOP presidential nominee Bob Dole endorsed Mitt Romney Sunday in an advertisement in the state’s largest newspaper.

In a half-page ad in the Des Moines Register, Dole wrote an "Open Letter to Iowa Voters" urging voters to lend their support to Romney ahead of the state's caucuses in just over two weeks.

I can't help but see the video of him taking a header right off of the center stage and into supporters at a rally when he was running for president whenever I see Dole. Is that wrong? It was, after all, a harbinger of the election results to come...

Both are typical examples of the GOP establishment GOP though. Their relevance was once great, but they've never really recovered from backing Rockefeller.

Bob Dole was a factor in locking out 3rd party candidates from political debates after Ross Perots bid for the white house. Dole wanted the League of Women Voters to change the rules, and not let 3rd parties participate. That is why the League of Women Voters backed out by saying they would "not be a party to hood winking the public"
