Sherri Shepherd Reveals Holiday Plans With Husband, Lamar Sally

Sherri Shepherd: 'It’s Our First Christmas As A Married Couple'

After pronouncing their wedding vows on August 13, newlyweds Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally are prepping for their first Christmas together as a family. Alongside her six-year-old son, Jeffrey, Shepherd and Sally have already got the festivities in full swing.

"It's really pretty special. This is our first year as a family, with me being married. We went into pictures with Santa Claus, and Jeffery did it," she recently recalled to The Huffington Post. "And Sal goes, 'Well, are we all going to sit with Santa?' And I was like, 'What?' And he said, 'It's our first year being married.' So we did that and it was a lot of fun."

Shepherd stated that they both are careful to spend an equal amount of time with each other's family. "We did Thanksgiving with his family in Detroit, so Christmas time is all Sherri Shepherd's side of the family," she said. "Our last day here [in New York] is December 23, and then we're on a plane to California. My cousins, sisters are in California, so he's going to be surrounded by a whole bunch of women cooking."

The pair have also handwritten and mailed more than 250 Christmas cards to the family and friends who attended their August ceremony. "The View" co-host revealed the gift that she's picked out for her extended family:

"The thing that I've gotten for Jeffery [in the past] was the Oral B toothbrush. And I wasn't sure how it was going to work with him, but he really likes it," she said. "The vibration of the toothbrush really calms him down before he goes to bed. So, because it worked with Jeffery, I'm going to get one of those for all my nieces and nephews."

It's that same extended family, Shepherd says, who have always come through with her most memorable holiday gifts.

"I always tell people don't buy me anything, because I'm so blessed and have so many things," she said. "But my nieces and nephews would just make me little things, and those are the most precious things to me. My nephew, just for Christmas, he wrote me a letter telling me what I meant to him. Stuff like that is what I treasure more than just a gift."

To honor a family tradition, "The Newlywed Game" host and Emmy Award-winner is also planning to gather with her loved ones on Christmas Eve to open one gift and hold a Bible lesson on the meaning of the holiday.

Looking into the new year, fans can expect 44-year-old Chicago native to appear on the silver screen alongside Katherine Heigl in "One For The Money" (January 27) and Steve Harvey's "Think Like A Man" (March 9).
