'VH1 Divas Celebrate Soul': Amy Winehouse Honored With Tribute (VIDEO)

First Posted: 12/20/11 03:43 AM ET Updated: 12/20/11 04:05 AM ET

"VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul" (Mon., 9PM ET on VH1) honored the greats, as well as those inspired by them. But in a rare twist, it was some of the greats honoring a newer artist when rapper Nas introduced a segment as tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings kicked it off, later joined by legendary rockabilly singer Wanda Jackson.

Then the stage was cleared for Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine to mesmerize the enthusiastic crowd with her take on "Back in Black." Many of the artists in attendance praised Winehouse in red carpet interviews.

"She was the most incredible artist," Welch said. "I feel kind of overwhelmed."

I do not get the fascination with the severely pitch challenged Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine.

If you don't get it now, you probably never will. That's fine, to each his/her own.

This was the worst tribute the the great Amy Winehouse I have ever heard. Not only do they get two very old women to completely destroy one of her signiture songs, they get a transgendered looking thing to preform her lost love ballad ("Back To Black") with a tinny and terrible voice. I would much rather heard Macy Gray singing Amy or even Lady Gaga for that matter- because both of those ladies would have done an incredible and amazing job. I am extremely dissapointed
