Whoopi Goldberg Denies Farting On 'The View'

Whoopi Goldberg has set the record straight. "The View" (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) co-host opened up about what exactly happened during the Dec. 16 interview with "Homeland" star Claire Danes.

Golberg seemed to fart during a segment that went viral and reverberated through the airwaves. At the time, she apologized, saying, "I'm sorry, I just let a frog out there." Now, Goldberg is denying she did the crime and is criticizing the media -- HuffPost TV included -- for reporting on the moment.

On the Dec. 20 episode, "The View" brought out several angles of the incident -- complete with slow-motion replays -- that made it clear Goldberg made the noise with her mouth. "People have lost their minds about this," she exclaimed. As to why she chose to make the scene in the middle of an interview, Goldberg explained, "I did it because I zoned out and wanted to have some fun, and forgot that I was actually on television doing my job.

"I know there are some times where I'm just silly as can be and sometimes it's appropriate .. for me, that was appropriate. I was in a mood!" she continued.

After the initial incident, HuffPost TV reached out to "The View" for a comment and included it in our post. "It was clearly a joke and all in good fun. Secretly we hoped it would get posted on YouToot," a rep said at the time. Will this be the last chapter in FartGate 2011? We still have 11 more days to find out.
