Darren Weingrow Pays For Funeral of Delores Gillespie, Woman Set In Fire In Elevators

Stranger Pays For Funeral Of Woman Killed In Elevator Attack

A Manhattan hedge fund manager will pay for the funeral of Delores Gillespie, the Brooklyn woman who was set on fire and killed in her building's elevator last week, according to Patch.

Darren Weingrow, the man covering the funeral expenses, doesn't know the 73-year-old Gilespie or her family, Patch reports. But the horrific allegations motivated him to pledge a donation.

Jerome Isaac, 47, allegedly doused Gilespie with a flammable liquid and ignited the fire with a barbecue starter, police said. Police claim Isaac and Gilespi had a dispute about payment for work he did for her. He's been charged with first- and second-degree murder and arson.
