Scott Walker Recall Supporter Puts Up 'Recall The Kochsucker' Sign Outside Her Motel

First Posted: 12/21/11 12:00 PM ET Updated: 12/21/11 01:55 PM ET

The Four Winds Motel north of Baraboo, Wis., is creating a stir with its decision to show support for the recall effort against Gov. Scott Walker (R) with a controversial sign.

"RECALL THE KOCHSUCKER NOW!" it reads in block letters, likely a reference to reports that the billionaire oil magnate Koch Brothers provided funding to Walker through their PAC, or perhaps to the ensuing prank call made to Walker by a Buffalo journalist pretending to be David Koch.

(Photo below)

During that call, the fake Koch -- pronounced "kohk," like a certain famous brand of cola -- talked with Walker about his effort to strip unions of their collective bargaining rights and about the standoff between Democratic and Republican legislators playing out at the time in Wisconsin.

Some Wisconsinites have found the language on the sign objectionable and offensively close to another sexual insult, regardless of the reasoning behind it.

"You know, people with kids are driving by. And you know there are little kids who are 8, 9, 10 years old who are old enough to be able to read that and might say, 'Mommy, what does that mean?'" Andrea Lombard, first vice chairwoman of the Sauk County Wisconsin Republican Party, told the Baraboo News Republic. "Well, how does Mommy explain that? I'm not sure."

Marcie Dachik, co-owner of the Four Winds Motel, is standing by her decision to display the sign, however, and doesn't seem to care much for her detractors' concerns.

"By and large, people have said, 'If I ever have a reason to, I will go out of my way to stay here' because of the sign," Dachik told the News Republic. "It's not like I didn't know it would be controversial when I put it up."

Dachik also told the News Republic that it's not the first time she's used the sign to promote a political message. She said she's put up text related to gay rights and an earlier statewide referendum on gay marriage.

In just a month, volunteers have already collected more than 500,000 signatures from Wisconsinites hoping to force a Walker recall election in 2012. They'll need to reach a total of 540,208 valid signatures before the Jan. 17.

And while supporters of the Walker recall effort continue to near their target, reports of their opposition getting in trouble for alleged actions against volunteers continue to pop up around the state.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Tuesday that a 32-year-old River Falls woman was arrested over the weekend after workers collecting recall petitions claimed that she had screamed profanity at them, then thrown their table toward the street and spat at them.

Also...if a consumer doesn't like or agree with the message, they don't have to patronize the establishment. On the other hand, if they do, check in at the front desk! All those who are for free speech, private enterprise, capitalism, etc., I think you would be the staunchest proponents for the right to display the message. Be a patriot!

How does Mommy explain it? Well, Mommy, you inform your child that the state of Wisconsin made a mistake and would like a new governor.

The real obscenity is Walker's treatment of working people.

Having lost the confidence of his constituents, shouldn't Walker save his state much time and money by resigning?

Interesting. I wonder if the owner is licensed to use the image of Gumby for his business?

It's possible that the graphic predates the popularization of Gumby.

Gumbys first animated appearance was in either '52 or '53 but was 'created' earlier. According to the 4 Winds Motel website, it first open for business in '54. So my guess would be no, the hotel did not predate Gumby.

To all that support the Koch Bros...

"And, like Warren Buffett, whose op-ed "Stop Coddling the Super-Rich" sent shockwaves through the country back in August, they are becoming more and more vocal."

"Obsessed"? You actually mean "scrutinizing where the Koch Brothers spend their political cash to influence legislation in their favor" don't you?

No, it pretty much says how the voters of Wisconsin were duped into voting for Walker by his promises of jobs only to find that he like the other Republican governors had more important agendas, like ban abortions, curtail unions and voter Identification. They are all tied with the same koch toiet brush. Thankfully Wisconsin can do the recall and Ohio can put them on the ballot, when enough signatures are collected.

No, it says that the union contracts of the state workers were sweetheart deals with the former Democrat govenors. My guess is that the majority of the good people of Wisconsin and Ohio have been aware of that for a long time. They thought they were just stuck with that, but now things look hopeful to get these reduced. The same is now true here in New Jersey and it made the Republican governor more popular as he is making moves to bring things back to reality. None of us really want contemptuous unions to be forcing everyone else to pay overpay for state workers - most of whom are not really earning half of what they are paid.

Erich Koch

Koch reported to Hitler that unemployment had been banished entirely from East Prussia, a feat that gained admiration throughout the Reich.

On September 1, Koch became Reichskommissar of Reichskommissariat Ukraine with control of the Gestapo and the police. His domain was extended from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea; he captured ethnic German, Polish, Belarus and Ukrainian’s declaring that “Ukraine children need no schools. What they’ll have to learn will be taught them by their German masters†and “If I meet a Ukrainian worthy of being seated at my table, I must have him shot..â€.

Koch worked together with the General Plenipotentiary for Labour Deployment, providing the Reich with forced labor. Due to his brutal actions, Nazi rule in Ukraine was disturbed by a growing number. Before once more getting away himself, by escaping through this Baltic Sea port on April 23, 1945, on the icebreaker OstpreuĂŸen. He faced charges of war crimes for the extermination of 400,000 Poles, but was never indicted for his crimes in Ukraine. He was sentenced to death on March 9, 1959 by the district court in Warsaw for having planned, prepared and organised the mass murder of civilians. Russians thought he possessed information about art looted by the Nazis during the war.

Years after the war, Koch stood trial in Poland and was convicted in 1959 of war crimes and sentenced to death. The sentence was commuted to life imprisonment a year later.

Erich Koch: A coincidence of names having nothing to do with the American family.

More to the point: the Koch Brothers’ own father, Fred Koch, was one of the 12 co-founders of the John Birch Society -- whose values are (you will notice) *very much* represented in Scott Walker’s policies.

Besides evidence the American Koch was related to Ilse’s family, Erich Koch (a high level Nazi official in charge of Prussia) invites Fred Koch to sell his oil in Nazi Germany when he is banned from doing business in the US. After the fall of Nazi Germany, Erich Koch and Fred expand the oil empire to the Soviet Union.

If she's a republican mommy, she'll villify, distort, denigrate, twist, probably curse, and blame Obama for the sign.
