Andy Cohen: 'Watch What Happens Live' Will Be Late Night's Only Live Show (VIDEO)

Late Night's Only Live Show?

Andy Cohen is setting his sites on late night domination. With his Bravo late night show "Watch What Happens Live" expanding from two to five nights per week starting on Jan. 8, the man who gave birth to "The Real Housewives" franchise is focused on standing out from the crowd. Thursday, co-hosting "Live! With Kelly," (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) Cohen talked about one of the things that distinguishes "Watch What Happens" from the late night competition: it's actually a live show.

Ripa started the segment by congratulating Cohen on the big move. "I'm very excited," he replied. "I'm excited because I love live TV, which is one of the reasons I love your show, and we're going to be the only live show in late night." Indeed, most other late night shows are pre-taped earlier in the day.

Of course, airing the show live isn't the only thing that keeps "Watch What Happens" spontaneous and fun. The show also serves its guests cocktails, which contributes to the show's light and gossipy atmosphere. Combining live TV and booze is risky, of course, but it's part of the reason that "Watch What Happens" is worth watching.
