Callin' Oates: Hall & Oates Hotline Has Your Number

Finally, a cure for those unending night terrors caused by a crippling lack of Hall & Oates. Now, all you have to do is pick up the phone.

Introducing Callin' Oates, a hotline that allows a caller to listen to four different songs by timeless, Songwriting Hall of Fame rock duo. By calling 1-719-26-OATES (or going to their site), fans can choose between "One on One," "Rich Girl," "Maneater" and "Private Eyes." Completely free, aside from any long distance charges -- the number is out of Colorado.

The app behind the ingenious hotline was built by Reid Butler and Michael Selvidge, the latter of whom was required to make an application upon getting hired to work full time at San Francisco-based developer Twilio. The idea, Selvidge told TheVerge.com, came from a pun.

"I thought, 'If only there was a pun that would work with this,'" he said. "Then 'Callin' Oates' hit me, and that cinched it."

The good people at BuzzFeed put together this video capturing the telephone magic. Now this is a Christmas miracle.

Saw them at the Hollywood Bowl a few years ago... ashamed to admit it, but one of the best shows I have seen. Certainly better than The Rolling Stones live. Couldn't believe (didn't remember) how many hits they had.

Love this duo, but "Kiss on my List" is guaranteed to get anyone out of a funk. I always tell my kids "how can you be in a bad mood when you hear this song!?"
