Michele Bachmann's Best Fashion Moments Of 2011! (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 12/25/2011 6:07 pm   Updated: 12/26/2011 11:51 am

It's been a topsy turvy year for Michele Bachmann, both in terms of her poll rankings and her personal style.

She entered the GOP race as a fashion enigma -- for years we'd been watching her haphazard sartorial choices and scratching our heads. Alien-inspired sunglasses? Over-the-top ornate jewels?

2011 started out the same -- we didn't quite understand her red carpet look from the Time 100 dinner in April, with the measly purse, tights with sandals and bright blue shawl.

But as the race picked up and Bachmann honed her platform, she focused in on a signature look. Possibly with the help from her style savvy husband, Marcus, Bachmann pulled it together: bouncy, blown-out hair; squared-off acrylic nails; a wardrobe of black, white and red; thickly layered maquillage; and the occasional strand of mega pearls.

And while she's no Audrey Hepburn or Jackie O, at least Michele Bachmann has a signature look to call her own.

Check out Michele's defining fashion moments from 2011.

Really? Where is the "best style moments" article about any of the men running for President of the United States? Sadly, sexism lives on.

She has presidential kneecaps.

I'm sorry, this woman is U-G-L-Y, inside AND out.

She has absolutely ZERO chance of being elected to *any* national office, so why even waste the space on your website?

That she's even mentioned in the style section is ironic, considering her avowed disdain for g@y people.

Who dresses her? Who does her (awful) hair and make-up?

Ridiculous.

Keep flapping your mouth, Michele. I'm sure there's a bevy of church ladies in Minneapolis willing to tend to your appearance after you personally insulted every LGBT person--and ally--alive in this country.

She is a very beautiful lady and has great hair. I like her better in lighter colors, especially white.
I also would like her better if she stayed at home in MN. She's not Presidential, she's not even believable as a Congresswoman.

Bachmann has the most awkward mouth ever. Maybe she should just sew it shut!

She is not running for Editor of a fashion magazine. Pretty sad when this is the only qualification she has to run as a candidate for President.

She's pretty but not presidential

Several commenters here ask what her fashions have to do with her qualifications to be president. The answer is: nothing. But then, she has almost NO chance to be elected president, so why not focus on her style instead?

After looking at all these photos, I think she looks best in basic single-color ensembles that have simple lines and little or no fuss with simple jewelry. And her hair looks best down. The one thing I think she does wrong all the time is that she wears too much makeup.

Just my nickel's worth...

Think about this... Bachmann's wardrobe and hairdos probably cost more than the average American earns in a year. Further, most of her "fashions" were probably made in China?!?

What has any of this got to do with her qualifications to be the President??? FDR did a historic job from a WHEELCHAIR, gnarly and sleep-deprived and sick. There's no LIPSTICK in politics--ask Ms. Palin.

You're right--I DID think of that.

I'm no Bachman fan but why is it only the women running for President get this focus on what they wear? (think Hillary's pant suits). I'm waiting for the "Style of Newt" review.

GOP wants you to stay clueless; why co-operate?
11:35 AM on 12/27/2011
Because, as you surely know, clothing style/fashion are primarily women's interests. If women didn't care about clothes/accessories, they would always wear dark suits and a tie.

That may seem 'sexist' but it's just the way it is -- just as women have 1000s more hairstyles than men-- just the way it is.

Disgraceful and ignorant comment. There are many women who don't give a toot about fashion and who have brilliant minds. Get educated before making "sexist" remarks like and then state " but it just the way it is." It's just not true.
