Cardozo High School, ConneXion Academy Basketball Brawl: Fight Breaks Out Between Players & Fans (VIDEO)

Massive High School Basketball Fight Pits Players Against Fans

A high school basketball game in Baltimore turned ugly Wednesday night when fans and players from Baltimore’s ConneXions School for the Arts and Washington, D.C.’s Cardozo Academy began brawling in the second quarter.

According to Fox 5 in DC, tensions escalated as a result of a series of questionable calls by referees, which eventually led to someone in the stands pushing a coach.

Then chaos broke out.

There were police on hand at the game but it would not be enough to separate the furious patrons. Baltimore police were eventually called to the scene and reportedly began using pepper spray to subdue those still fighting.

"We could have had better control of our kids," Cardazo high school athletic director Bobby Richards told the Washington Post. "It's unfortunate because [a fight] is the type of thing that we try to avoid."

Statements released by both the Baltimore City Public School District and DC Public School District indicated that they are currently investigating the fight, and will dole out punishments once more information is gathered.
