Earlier this week, Jets cornerback and renowned trash talker Antonio Cromartie took a shot at Giants receivers Victor Cruz and Mario Manningham. "He let a guy named Victor Cruz come in and take his job," he said in response to some insults made by the Giants receivers earlier in the week. When it came time for the Battle of New York, Cruz and the Giants got the last laugh.
Backed up to their own 1-yard line on 3rd and 10, Eli Manning dropped back about seven yards deep into the end zone and threw it to Cruz right at the first down line. Cruz caught the pass with a pair Jets defenders on him, but neither of the two were able to take him down. The 25-year-old dashed down the right sideline and dodged the diving Eric Smith en route to a 99-yard touchdown catch.
It was the 13th 99-yard touchdown reception in NFL history.
The score put the Giants up 10-7 and they wouldn't relinquish the lead from that point on.
The G-Men poured it on late in the fourth quarter and beat the Jets 29-14. Now, all they need to do is beat the Dallas Cowboys at home in Week 17 to win the NFC East.
