Drew Brees Speech: Saints QB Addresses Team After Breaking Record (VIDEO)

Not only did Drew Brees break Dan Marino's longstanding record for most passing yards in a single NFL season, but he set the new record on a touchdown pass in a victory that earned his team a division title. Not a bad night's work.

To top it all off, Brees earned a big laugh from his teammates during a postgame speech.

After the Saints had closed out their 45-16 win over the visiting Atlanta Falcons, Brees addressed his teammates in the locker room. He spoke with the poise and charisma that one would expect from an NFL quarterback, but he also earned a laugh from his teammates with a -- seemingly unintentional -- double entendre. All joking aside, Brees did his best to portray his achievement as something that his teammates should also feel responsible for. He also attempted to put it in perspective of the team's ultimate goal -- the Super Bowl.

What a class act. I'm sorry my Chargers didn't pursue him harder, but I'm happy for New Orleans. 09 was great. This has the possibility of being better still. I hope it's the Saints and Packers in the championship game. That should be memorable.

John McKay at a post-game press conference in 1976 (0-16 Bucs) "You guys don't know the difference between a football and a bunch of bananas." The following week after a media member has dropped off a case of bananas at his door - "You guys don't know the difference between a football and a Mercedez-Benz." And, of course, in response to a question about his team's execution - after a slight pause - "I'm all in favour of it."

My favorite was the hilarity provoked in his players during a postgame conference. Commenting on a scuffle on the field and upon hearing certain words... 'I was shocked! Using language like that on the football field!'

Drew one of the best QB'S to play the game.This isnt the last record he will set on is way to Canton Ohio! Its a shame the game doesnt have more players like Drew that realize how lucky they are to be able to be rich playing what they love and enjoy it without acting like a 5 yr old off the field.

That speech was great except when Benson and his wife decided to give him a hug mid-speech. The comment about the equipment managers was priceless!

I agree with you about Benson and his robotic wife, he interrupted Brees in the middle of his speech, he had no sense of the moment and interrupting Drew like that was minor league.
