Winter Fruit: Creative Ways To Add More To Your Diet

Creative Ways To Eat More Fruit

When the temps drop and the days are short, many people go running for mac and cheese, hot chocolate and other warm (and fattening) cold-weather comfort foods. And as a result, the average person gains up to two pounds every winter, Donnica Moore, M.D. told That's Fit.

One way to combat that belly bulge is by incorporating more of winter's best fruits into your diet. Oranges, pineapple and grapefruit are just a few options that you can get fresh right now, according to EatingWell. Plus, there are some tasty and healthy yet often overlooked winter fruits -- like blood oranges and persimmons -- that are worth trying as well, Health.com reports.

Registered dietitian Cynthia Sass has some super-creative ways to incorporate more fruit into your cold-weather eating plan, including making a fruit puree to spread on crackers and a surprising new take on baked pears. Watch the video to find out which fruit she suggests adding to your next burger!
