Midseason TV 2012: Previews Of 'American Idol,' '30 Rock,' 'Bachelor' And More Returning Shows (PHOTOS)

Posted: 12/28/11 05:05 AM ET

It's the second most wonderful time of the year for TV fans: Midseason premieres! The networks are rolling out new offerings to replace failed new shows, sometimes with even newer shows, other times with old favorites that have been gone for far too long. We're talking to you, "30 Rock" and "Mad Men."

Besides Liz Lemon and Don Draper's returns, there are new seasons of reality offerings like "American Idol" and "The Bachelor" and critical darlings like, "Cougar Town" (we hope) and "Southland."

What's Liz been up to since last May? Who's that elder cougar going after the new "Bachelor" Ben Flajnik? Find out the answers to those questions and many more below.

What's New: Apparently, the maximum age of contestants for "The Bachelor" has been upped. Fans have been buzzing since the first promo for Season 16 of "The Bachelor" revealed Sheryl, a grandmother joins the ranks of ladies looking to charm 29-year-old winemaker Ben Flajnik in Season 16. Besides the curious presence of Grandma Sheryl, this season premiere of the bachelor is chock-full of drama, kisses and tears.

Season 16 premieres Mon., Jan. 2, 8 p.m. EST on ABC

Dayam, what's happened to me? I watch Rachel Maddow, CNN, Californication, Shameless and Bill Maher and I Hulu The Walking Dead. That's it. But I read- a lot. … Whatever.

I watch exactly zero of these shows. If this means I'm out of touch with mainstream America, so be it.

I never saw Eastbound and Down before Sunday's season premiere. It was very funny, so I'm catching up on HBO GO.

While I am on a roll, I miss the original cast of Mad TV and the cast for about the first 5 years or so. It was funnier then SNL

Yes, Regis Philbin is apparently owed favors by many of his former guests. Now he is going to appear everywhere.

I don't know why Mad Men has been off for so long, but it's almost like when The Sopranos had such a long time between new episodes.People just kind of lost interest.I think it's a good show, but there's other good shows, too that don't have almost 2 year hiatus.Southland is one of the best shows there is.Also Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead.Just my opinion.

Same with The Borgias and Curb Your Enthusiasm, its a huge turn off for the viewers. "Out of sight, out of mind". Viewers loose interest waiting.
