Whether you were rocking out with MGMT inside the Guggenheim's famous rotunda or hopping aboard a vintage, 1920's subway train via Boardwalk Empire, celebrate the very best in New York arts and culture with our special recap highlighting what the city does best: inspire.

By no means a comprehensive list, please enjoy this sampling of some of our favorites: a girl dancing across Manhattan, memorable performances at Occupy Wall Street, Brooklynites' public bucket list, and much more.

Behold, the exhilarating, dance epic "Girl Walk // All Day" which after nearly a year of anticipation, premiered in all its 71-minute music video glory at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple. We first chronicled the wonderful project in January when the group, led by improvisational dancer Anne Marsen, danced aboard the Staten Island Ferry to Girl Talk's mashup album, All Day. A Kickstarter was then launched to help finish the video as they danced away to the entire album across Manhattan with the help of random New Yorkers inspired by her contagious dancing.
