Dog, Hiker Cliff Rescue At 150 Feet (VIDEO)

Teen Risked His Life For 'Family, My Best Friend'... His Dog!

As ABC reports in the video above, a 19-year-old and his dog clung to the side of a cliff Thursday, after sliding about 150 feet down from a hiking trail in Lake View Terrace.

Ivan Salas was hiking with his father and two dogs in Lopez Canyon when one of the dogs followed a bottle that the father accidentally tossed over the edge of a cliff. When Salas tried to rescue the dog, he slid down the steep slope as well.

After determining that a helicopter could blow Salas and his dog or kick up rocks, the Los Angeles Fire Department sent down two firefighters, who rappelled the cliff and saved the teen and his dog.
