Emma Watson Lancome Ad Will Encourage Teens To Try Lipstick (PHOTO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 12/30/11 03:02 PM ET Updated: 12/30/11 03:02 PM ET

Remember when we declared Emma Watson's latest Lancome ads to be a bit forgettable and "blah"?

Well turns out there was a reason: those weren't the real ads. They were prototypes for the real thing, which just dropped today.

The campaign is for Rouge In Love, a new collection of lipsticks aimed at younger girls (e.g. Emma Watson).

Sold in three different categories (basic nudes, sparkly white and silver, and gold-flecked bold tones), the lipsticks are meant to lure young women from ever-reliable glosses over to the real thing.

If young women can figure out how to apply their lipstick as flawlessly as Emma, then the approach should work just fine. We just doubt whether any girl on her way to class -- balancing a notebook, a coffee and a iPhone and inevitably running late -- will be able to achieve Emma's perfect pout.

Check out Emma's new spot below (and check her out in a semi-related video totally rocking the red-lipped look).

I know someone is going to say its airbrushed but she still is gorgeous and that ad hits the spot. I want to go out and buy the lipstick

Emma is a class act. Too bad the K sisters and that 17-year-old married to the 51-year-old actor couldn't take a lesson from her.

It is hard to take an actress seriously if she hasnt taken the trouble to make a sex tape.

I think that young lady has more class in her little finger than any young american starlet has in their whole body. And when ever the late night talk shows try to get her to say or do anything wrong she just smiles and stays a lady. I am so glad that as she grows up she remains a lady.

With the exception of Michelle Williams, I agree with you!

She's pretty, but Emma Watson always looks like a little girl playing dress up in her mother's make-up and clothes.

She is an exceptional beauty. She also seems like a fun, nice girl.

I like the tinfoil background. Now, I want a tinfoil shimmering bedspread. :)

I have always loved the look of minimal makeup with red lipstick. My daughters have not ever tried anything other than the 'natural' look. That is de rigueur for daytime but love the old Hollywood look for night. Go Glam!

Emma is absolutely stunning, does not need all those heavy makeup to look georgeous.

At least Lancome has managed to remove some of the too-heavy eye makeup from Emma's pretty little face. She's too gamine to carry off that black-eyed look. In this photo the overall makeup is fair and bright, and if we could tone down the lips she'd be very attractive. Too bad red is being pushed - she'd look good in a more youthful color.
