Miami New Year's Eve Guide

What To Do New Year's Eve Weekend In Miami

Every year, City of Miami officials and police ask South Floridians to withhold from firing their guns in the air in celebration of New Year's Eve.

So what can you do besides throw your glock in the air to commemorate the change to 2012? For starters you can party naked or see that mythological creature known as Lauryn Hill. See below for the best Miami events this New Year's Eve weekend.

Orange Drive
Ocean Drive Between 7th and 9th streets
Weekend Pass costs $155.15
On Friday, see Pete Entz and Boys II Men perfrom. Saturday, catch the NYE countdown and fireworks as well as performances by DJ Irie and Ne-Yo. Sunday, see the little man with a big voice, Cee-Lo Green.

King Mango Strut
Main Highway and Grand Avenue in Coconut Grove
Saturday, 2pm
Free
To fight off the insanity caused by too much creepy and weird news, the freaks down in Coconut Grove have been throwing this satirical parade for the past 30 years. Come see this year's best (as in worst) headlines get mocked.

Big Orange Celebration
Bayfront Park
Saturday, 7pm
Free
That glowing fruit in the sky is turning 25. The City of Miami's official NYE celebration hosts Big Orange, who will rise to the top of the InterContinental Hotel at the stroke of midnight. There will also be fireworks and performances by the likes of Ludacris.

Nude New Year's Festival
Haulover Beach Park
Saturday, 3pm
$179-$224
Head to the local clothing-optional beach to enjoy dinner, champagne toast, and fireworks in your birthday suit. There's also overnight camping in Sunny Isles, drum circles, mediation, and yoga.

Lauryn Hill
Shelborne South Beach
Saturday, 9pm
$200 to $5000
See the Fugee diva, who is scheduled to perform in between sets by DJs David Berrie, Drek Martinez, and DJ DL.

Wolf + Lamb
Electric Pickle
Saturday, 8pm
$30
For those who want to stay far far away from the Beach and the cluster-freak known as the MacArthur Causeway, head to the Pickle in Wynwood. Brooklyn's Wolf + Lamb and Boston's Soul Clap will ease the transition to 2012 with supple sounds.

Deadmau5
Fontainebleau Poolside
Sunday, 7pm
$125 to $15,000 (yes, really)
Even though this big-eared freak behind the decks is no fan of Ultra, he'll grace Miami with his presence on the first day of 2012. Catch him alongside Stephan Luke, Troy Kurtz, and Damaged Goods.
