New Year's Eve TV 2011: What To Watch To Ring In 2012

Planning to stay in on New Year's Eve? Well, there's tons of TV to help ring in the New Year.

Below, check out the various options available to the TV viewer on Saturday night. Dick Clark's New Year's Eve special on ABC, which is co-hosted by Ryan Seacrest, will celebrate it's 40th year on the air. The always lively CNN New Year's Eve special with Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper will surely prove entertaining, as Griffin has been talking all over town about how she plans to humiliate her co-host.

Can we please get a 5-10 year break from Kathy Griffin??
CNN... Pleeezzzeee! In our house we will not watch her but no problem for there are other channels showing NYE shows.
And ditto for Justin Bieber, have mercy on us!
And Dick Clark needs to retire immediately if not sooner... and may his recovery go well, but please spare the American public of having to watch this guy.

Was at someone else's house and they flipped back and forth between a few of them. Boy, what a waste of broadcast time. Seacrest is not entertaining to watch and constantly comes across as fake. The bright lights on Jenny McCarthy's face to drown out her wrinkles was very hard to watch. Why, exactly, did they pick her? I didn't know Carson Daly was still around - and he hasn't been missed. Pretty boring. Kathy Griffin - her humor (if that's what you call it) is getting old. And the music...........wow! That was bad. Justin Bieber - mm, hmm. Nicki Minaj is clearly overrated. Pitbull? Is he REALLY famous for that stuff? Corny.
Thankfully, there were other options and the TV celebrations were easily ignored. Just confirmed why I've never spent New Years Eve watching those shows.

I switched back and forth between the shows. It makes me uncomfortable to watch Anderson Cooper with Griffin, talk about ODD COUPLE :(
I am a Progrossive/Liberal/Dem but cannot stand that woman ! I don't find her funny just insulting !

I agree miriamfl. I do not understnad why and whom ever would put Anderson Cooper with Kathy Griffin?She had got fired and rehired! Why? She is not funny and very bad in taste of dirty obnoxious jokes that are not funny and totally absurb! Very unlady like.She does it as if she can and no one is going to stop her!That is why I did not watch! I only seen the ball drop and then I turned the channel! I cannot believe anyone out there would like her crap! And how is she getting away with her antics? Anderson Cooper is a nice cool guy and very professional news reporter.He does not need to have someone like her doing the New Years eve celebration.If this happens again next year Anderson should say no! Not with her again! Get somebody like Tina Fey.She is funny. A petition need to go around before the New Year of this year to ban Griffin from the show!

i just woke up late but... it confuses me. ryan seacrest works for fox, has most of his money from comcast (which owns nbc) and does a show on a disney network....confusing....

Enjoying CNN's high school AV club presentation more than NBC & ABC slick marketing programs. Extra props to the CNN reporter in Key West who each year appears to be fully baked. Also enjoy seeing Anderson Cooper visibly uncomfortable with Griffin.
