Already made your New Year's Eve plans? The city has much more going on than just midnight toasts and morning after brunches this weekend, so check out some of the events below to see what else is going on to close the year in New York in style.

Nutcracker: Rated R

After five years and sold-out runs, Angela Harriell brings her provocative twist on a classic holiday tale for Nutcracker: Rated R, where drugs, haunting family secrets, and scandal are uncovered. The original Tchaikovsky score blends in with contemporary sounds and unique dances ranging from burlesque to ballet.

Uncles Record Release Party

Kick off the weekend with your favorite Uncles from Queens as they take to the stage at Cake Shop on Friday evening to celebrate the release of their new album "m4w," with indie-folk tunes and special guests Country Mice and Emil and Friends. The group's new single "Bayberry Lane" reminisces over the suburban good life and can be downloaded here for free on Spinner or watch their video below. Oh, and as a good uncle always does, the group will be handing out some fancy gifts for those who come out for the festivities!

de Kooning: A Retrospective

Haven't had a chance to visit the MoMa's stunning retrospective of de Kooning's finest work? You've only got a few more days left to do so, so check out the museum's first major exhibition devoted fully to the career of the prolific artist before it's too late!

Emerald Nuts Midnight Run
Where: Central Park, 72nd Street Transverse
When: Saturday, 12AM
Price: Non-members $55, Members $50
Feeling motivated? Ready to start making those resolutions a reality? Skip the inevitable hangover recipes and head over to Central Park where you can run in a special race around the park with fireworks to serve as your inspiring backdrop. Arrive at 10PM and you can warm up with a dance party and costume contest.

David Smith: Cubes and Anarchy

This weekend also marks the second to last weekend to check out the unique, geometric sculptures from the David Smith: Cube and Anarchy exhibit at the Whitney Museum. The WSJ called the show a "delight," so end the year with some high-brow culture.

Ring in the New Year with laughter at Carolines on Broadway, where 30 Rock star and former SNL member Tracy Morgan will be delivering his raucous standup performance.

Jurassic Park

Go back in time with Steven Spielberg's classic "Jurassic Park," as the film storms back to theaters for a special weekend filled with midnight screenings and action packed dinosaurs.
