is located in northern New York, about 2 1/2 hours from Montreal. Airport options include Burlington, Vermont, Montreal and Albany, New York. Whiteface Lake Placid boasts the greatest vertical drop on the East Coast and has played host to many Olympic skiers, earning it the moniker Olympic Mountain.
The Mountain
With 86 trails,
at Whiteface Lake Placid has something for skiers of all ages and skill levels. The slopes generally open in November and close in April, giving skiers plenty of options for scheduling a visit. The average snowfall is 203 inches per year, and their snowmaking equipment can produce enough to cover 98 percent of the skiable terrain, making for ideal powder throughout the season. The longest run at Whiteface Lake Placid is the Wilmington Trail at 2.1 miles. The peak is 4,650 feet tall with a 3,430-foot vertical drop.
Trails And Lifts
Whiteface Lake Placid's
include blue, green and black diamond runs. Nearly half of the trails are in the intermediate skill range with the others being divided between beginner and expert trails. With 10 lifts, skiers rarely have any problems getting to the top of the mountain. Whiteface Lake Placid features one magic carpet, five double-chairs, one triple-chair, one fixed-grip quad, one high-speed quad and one high-speed gondola. The mountain also has a terrain park, perfect for beginners and young skiers, as well as a series of slides for experienced skiers.

Cost
A basic lift ticket at Whiteface Lake Placid costs $84 for adults, $55 for children and $69 for seniors. An adult season pass costs $999, a child season pass costs $475 and a senior's season pass costs $720. Group rates are available by contacting the
office. A variety of group and private lessons are offered at Whiteface Lake Placid and range in price depending on the type of the lesson and its duration. Visit the

Apres-Ski
has many apres-ski options for fun and relaxation with friends and family. The mountain offers a shuttle and ski storage, allowing skiers to enjoy time off the slopes without worrying about where to keep their equipment or finding a ride. With six restaurants at the resort, skiers have several choices regarding price range and cuisine.
serves up pasta and wood-fired pizza in a casual atmosphere, while Pan Dolce produces gourmet cuisine using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Main Street Lake Placid offers more dining, plenty of shopping and a wide range of lodging options.
