Newt Gingrich Blasts Administration, Justice Department For Blocking South Carolina Voter ID Law

Newt Gingrich Voter Id Law

SHANNON McCAFFREY   12/31/11 02:14 PM ET   AP

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich blasted the Justice Department for blocking a South Carolina voter identification law and suggested the Obama administration wants to "steal elections."

During a campaign stop in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the former House speaker questioned why Attorney General Eric Holder is "so determined not to identify if people are not eligible to vote"

Gingrich went on to say that, "you have to ask, why is it that they are desperate to retain the ability to steal elections and I think that's what it comes down to."

The Justice Department recently rejected South Carolina's law requiring voters to show photo ID at polling places as discriminatory against minorities. Republicans argue stricter voter ID laws are needed to avert voter fraud.

The South Carolina primary is Jan. 21.

when Obama came into power all the black people thought it was the new begining, how wrong they were, whats he don, hes don nothing, we see more of his family than we do him making good, he's been a complete waist of time, he's let the black communitys down big time, if he wasnt willing to make important changes to black communitys then knowbody will, yet black people see him as a god. attleast if nothing else he could have made pot legal to smoke in your own home, and let every house hold to grow up to 5 plants at a time, but he dont care about the black people that much,
02:18 PM on 01/03/2012
lets not forget he gave you stimulus packets to help you out in those bad times, he made it possible to keep unemployment going when there was none .none of them did nothing for the black community you think we aint use to that, what does growin pot gotta due with black people genius we dont all smoke pot, an some of the people i have encountered its a universal drug white black mexican, no one ever walked in the white house an did 90 percent of what they say, no one, an thinking he gone come in an save the black communtiy thats a choke, if it aint about money, they do nothing, the black community is not an investment to them, for example the lottery, its set up to go to what they say deserving schools, an they gotta show why they need it an actual win whats promised to them..its all about money, most politicians care less about you or me, an im not saying all obama has done has been good, but theres been change little an slow.the problem is you have rich people setting standards for the middle class an lower class an poor, put a middle class border line poor man in the office an give him little money see how he budget

1. Actually if you check right-leaning Politifact PRESIDENT Obama has done about 80% of what he has promised to do. He was not elected to help Black people he was elected to help Americans and the world at large.
2. The majority of folks on drugs legal, illegal or otherwise are of European decent, not African decent nor indigenous to the Americas.
3. This list of accomplishments was put together prior to the 2010 elections. http://www.jackandjillpolitics.com/2010/10/president-obamas-244-accomplishments/
4. Since then we got Osama Bin Laden, Qadhafi, and the Talliban now wants to talk.
5. Lastly, the president is not a king - he cannot mandate, he can merely suggest, campaign, and prod. If congress doesn't cooperate - nothing gets done. That is why it was important to maintain majority in the House - but people sat back on their cannabis behinds and stayed home and now we have a bunch of nonsense going on in DC.

So before you two spout your cannabis-induced dribble - do some research.

Once again our voter laws worked
well enough to elect Bush in 2000
well enough to elect Bush in 2004
well enough to elect Obama in 2008, no Supreme Court needed
well enough to elect Republicans in 2010, by a large margin.
Why aren't those same voter laws good enough now?
Why were new laws needed?
Voter fraud is a myth,

April 11 — Five years after the Bush administration began a crackdown on voter fraud, the Justice Department has turned up virtually no evidence of any organized effort to skew federal elections, according to court records and interviews.

Panel Said to Alter Finding on Voter Fraud (April 11, 2007)

Although Republican activists have repeatedly said fraud is so widespread that it has corrupted the political process and, possibly, cost the party election victories, about 120 people have been charged and 86 convicted as of last year.

Most of those charged have been Democrats, voting records show. Many of those charged by the Justice Department appear to have mistakenly filled out registration forms or misunderstood eligibility rules, a review of court records and interviews with prosecutors and defense lawyers show.

Who says I'm not you?
This is fun I enjoy it, I'm more relax here
then I am at work. This is a great issue,
take Iowa for instance, the very laws they (GOP)
have impose on they citizens for the general election
are not being use for the election today, sounds
a bit hypocritical, see I did in a very relax manner,
I even typed slowly so that a few out there could understand it.
As the young people say, you need to Chil-lax.

" about 120 people have been charged and 86 convicted as of last year" so you are Okay with SOME voter fraud, but not to much is that it? Exactly how much is to much? You are just another Democrat zombie spewing the party.

Notice I gave you an answer without an insult,
thats tells us so much about and me.
How many votes were cast?
Devide that that by the 86?
Do you want a perfect election, I'll take those
little numbers any election, I would be a fool
to believe in a perfect election.
How many people were killed by guns?
Should they be banned!
How many people die from smoking, drinking and much more
we live in an imperfect society, so as evolve humans we have
to look at the percentages, right now they don't add up to voter
suppression, when the current has work for YOU GUYS 3 out of
the last 4 elections, just last year when we were blown away.
Reply keep the insults out of it, I'm looking for an intelligent
comprehensive reply.

Has anyone noticed that the terms "teaparty or teaparties or teapartiers" is barely mentioned, if at all? They're now republicans, GOP or conservatives - the same words we called them before they were teapartiers.

The democrats are stealing votes, isn`t that what the republican`ts are doing?
trying to keep the poor and minorities from voting. Because you know they
won`t get their votes, they`ll do what ever it takes, many more tricks up their
sleeves.

They are actually admitting that what they are doing is not based on "voter fraud" but an actual attempt to suppress the vote of people who vote Democrat for partisan advantage?

I'm with Gingrich, no more stolen elections - that's how we ended up with Bush in 2000.

And Bush is how we ended up with our subsequent wars.

there all there lives, everyone knows eachother no ID
require, its a little different in big cities, you guys know
that, but never mention it, Talking Points we know.

away from women, workers and children.
Newt comes to mind on the latter.

I fell out of love with him and I didn't even know it until I started to watch one of his flicks. It was really unexpected but immediate not his disenchantment with Obama, but his disrespectiful way he put it out there. He made it very personal and very ugly. He's lost me as a fan and I wish I could tell him that he has because I thought he was a better man than that. Again, it's not because of how he now feels about the President. It's about how he presented it.
04:51 PM on 01/02/2012
ok matt damon is a good actor but, lets be honest no one term president can do half the things obama tried to do, its never been done an he agrees with some of obamas views not all thats what at least 30 to 45 percent of america the problem is if your on a descent track why bring in somebody with so called better views to start all over again yet still fall behind it takes time, get some balls an understand that, this was screwed up before obama took office its not spilled milk he fixing its more like the oil spill, the troops that bush sent to iraq things he trying to fix that someone screwed up not him mind you other presidents so have faith 4 years it took clinton 8 years just to make his term descent bush screwed it up like a how can i say this bush was like trapped in the closet an instead of finding away out he just had more stuff to block the door from the inside an couldnt figure who to blame

It's suspicious that this issue is being raised now. It seems we were able to determine who was eligible to vote in all the previous elections and didn't find any cause for alarm about voter fraud.

Well, ya know, that's what we black folks do. We steal votes -- the massive effort to redistrict voters doesn't count as theft does it? And that legalization of voter suppression that the right is working on, would that be construed as stealing rights from the underserved and poor? No, I haven't missed the renewed barrage of covert meme, depicting President Obama as suspect, terroristic, bad, et al, with a bit of the "all blacks are inherently criminal" stereotype thrown in for good measure.
03:50 PM on 01/02/2012
